May 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join us as we participate in the Reclaiming 5 de Mayo Binational Day of Action for Peace and Against Violence.

Global Exchange, Newtown Action Alliance, Movement for Our Disappeared in Mexico, and partners invite you to: U.S. Guns and Forced Disappearances in Mexico: A forum with family members on problems and policies.

Moderated by John Lindsay-Poland, Stop US Arms to Mexico, Sunday, May 5 – 5 de Mayo at 3 pm Eastern / 1 pm CDMX / noon Pacific. Register today!

Gun violence in Mexico and the United States has reached alarming levels. There were nearly 30,000 homicides in Mexico last year, at least half of these committed with U.S.-sourced firearms. More than 100,000 people have been forcibly disappeared in the country – most by people or groups armed with guns – and the problem is growing.

We will hear from Grace Fernández, María Isabel Cruz Bernal, and Marisol Esquivel, family members of people disappeared in the violence in Mexico – their struggles and goals – and what we can do about it.

Please join us for this important conversation.

Simultaneous Spanish-English interpretation will be provided.

In Solidarity,

P.S. Join the People’s Movement for Peace and Justice as we take to the streets this May 5th for a Binational Day of Action for Peace and Against Violence, advocating for peace-building strategies that center people first, our rights, and our dignity. Join one of our in-person events or one of the many virtual events.
