  • It’s Time For Our Annual Membership meeting!
We like to start our year’s activities on a hopeful note, with the coming of Spring. It’s a time of regeneration and new life, as all of nature seems to awaken from a winter sleep. Our hopes too come back to life, and we look forward to returning to our tasks with new energy. We hope you can join us, and share both a pot luck dinner, and an exchange of energy and ideas!
  • California’s Water Wars
Water is one of the most precious resources in the world. Our very lives depend on it. We can live for around 3 weeks without food, but after 3 days without water, we’re on the brink of death. And as the population of the earth has grown to over 8 billion people, the amount of water has not increased. Of all the water in the world, including all the ice in glaciers and at the north and south poles, only one percent is fresh (potable) water that we can drink. Compared to much of the world, California is blessed with… Read More »California’s Water Wars
  • After Trump, What’s Next?
Hint: The Democrats are not the answer It’s hard to grasp the extent of the political madness gripping the US today, but it’s obvious that President Trump is leading the way. As his polling plummets, his MAGA base crumbles, and his social media posts verge on insanity, it’s hard to guess how long his leadership may last. • WW III Has Already Begun
Undeclared, of course, like most US wars Even before the latest attacks on Iran by Israel and the US, a global struggle of historic proportions has been going on for years. Five centuries of Western global dominance is breaking down, and in desperation the West, led by the US, is resorting to brute force to try to maintain its fading dominance. We’re witnessing the end of Western imperialism, that colonized the rest of the world so that Europe could live off the wealth of other nations. The self-proclaimed superpower status of the US is sounding hollow, as the US military… Read More »WW III Has Already Begun
  • Homelessness In Sacramento
This is a major crisis that has been going on for years, with thousands of people living – and some dying – on our city streets. We don’t have the time to go into in depth here, but here’s where you can find out more about it. The Homeward Street Journal newsletter has been published since 1997, educating the public about housing and poverty issues. It gives the unhoused a voice in a public forum, and also informs the unhoused of shelter and other resources.     If you check it out, you’ll be awakened to a whole population of people… Read More »Homelessness In Sacramento
  • Is There A Draft In Here?
Hey! Do we want our young people being forced to sign up for the draft? Absolutely not! But a bill (SB 1081) has been introduced again (it’s been turned down at least 6 times before!)in the state legislature that would require applicants for California Drivers Licenses  between the age of 16 and 25 to consent to register with the Selective Service System for possible military draft.     Let’s take action to stop this from becoming law! If you’d like more information, here’s a link.
