Surviving US Empire in El Salvador

October 28, 2021 @ 7:00 am

Panel with founders of the Survivor’s Historical Memory Committee of Arcatao, Chalatenango.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Salvadoran revolutionaries fought to overthrow U.S.-backed military dictatorships and led ambitious experiments in democratic self-governance and popular education. This event features a panel discussion with members of the Survivor’s Historical Memory Committee of Arcatao, Chalatenango.
Panelists include Rosa Rivera Rivera, Elizabeth Ayala Mejía, and Nicolás Rivera López. The committee will share their work to preserve the historical memory of farmworkers who survived state-led massacres and participated in revolutionary movements.
