Here’s a helpful toolkit that provides the following script, background on the State Sponsors of Terrorism List, Graphics, a template Press Release and more!

Call the White House:  (202) 456-1111

Suggested script:

My name is [FIRST and LAST NAME] from [CITY and STATE]

I am calling to ask you, President Biden, to direct the State Department to remove Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism immediately.

As one of his last acts as United States President, Donald Trump placed Cuba on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, the SSOT.  The State Department reasserted this designation on February 27. This action added incredible hardship to an already long list of hardships for the Cuban people created by the 243 sanctions he already had imposed, especially on top of the Covid pandemic and 60 years of U.S. trade embargo.

Since taking office you have had every chance to remove Cuba from the SSOT.  Worldwide, heads of state and leaders in public, religious and civic sectors have called for you to remove Cuba from the SSOT.  Cuba was placed on the list supposedly because of its role in negotiations between the Colombian government and the ELN guerrilla groups, but even the President of Colombia has said there is no justification for Cuba being on the SSOT.

I am joining my voice to many others in calling for you, President Joseph Biden, to remove Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism immediately, as you have the authority and ability to do.  Please take action now.  Thank you.

If you call, and you cannot get through, you can post on the White House Contact Form: https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

For “Message Type,” select:  Contact the President

Then fill in your name, address and your other contact information

Then at “What Would You Like to Say?” copy and paste in the script as above. Substituting “I am writing” for “I am calling”.

Twitter – suggested message

Cuba does not belong on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
